Dear prospective Curves member,
Thank you for reading this letter. It's long but it's worth it because it fully explains what I believe and know:The most important benefit of a regular routine of exercise is your improved health & energy.
I am a Curves manager and along with weight loss success stories (of which there are many) I also hear and witness many health and wellness results. Our members regularly share with me and our staff their unsolicited stories about how Curves has helped them. Over and over we hear that their doctors are so pleased with them, their partners are so proud of them, and they feel so good about their own progress.
I know my co-workers would agree that we also hear: "Curves has changed my life!" As a matter of fact we hear that statement a lot.
Our members who exercise regularly report health improvements in the following areas: weight loss, blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, arthritis, energy levels, depression, heart health, recovery time from operations, osteoporosis and more. All of those things are more important to your long term health than just the size of your jeans. (By the way, you would be amazed at the number of 'skinny' women who have health problems too. The mirror is not a good reflection of your overall health.)
Absolutely to take control of our weight we all need to practice a nutritionally sound diet that includes a variety of whole, healthy foods along with a regular routine of exercise. Curves offers both of these healthy lifestyle components to it's members. Those that embrace the lifestyle meet with great success in many forms. Many experience the weight loss that was their original reason for joining Curves. Most also experience the improved self esteem that comes from getting stronger and committing yourself to something important - YOU.
As women, it's important that we all learn to take better care of ourselves. It's important that we take ownership of our health and wellness. If you are like most women, taking care of everyone around you is a role you take on willingly and without complaint. But if you aren't taking care of yourself, you cannot take care of anyone else.
Curves empowers you. Curves strengthens you. Curves can give you the courage and energy to do everything you need to do during your busy day.
I would encourage you not to listen to people who might tell you 'they didnt lose weight at Curves.' They probably didn't. But I can tell you from personal experience that hundreds of women have come and gone from my Curves without ever giving themselves a chance. And isn't that a shame? For whatever reason, they never got themselves into a good routine (the only way any exercise program will work), they never pushed themselves to work hard, and never changed the way they ate. Of course few people will ever say to their friends: I joined Curves, hardly ever went, and when I was there, I mostly talked to the girl next to me.
My advice would be: Give yourself the chance you deserve. Curves works. Baylor University did a 5 year study of the Curves program and proved it.
We love our Curves and our members who have become like family to us.
Few gyms will offer you the encouragement and support you will find at Curves. It's a leap of faith, I know. But you owe it to yourself to give it a try.
Sincerely,
Cathy
